Throughout the modern age, fashion trends have blessed us with unofficial uniforms. One of the best parts about fads is they allow us to gain insight into who a person is. It’s always nice when assholes identify themselves before ever opening their mouths. A decade before the cyber truck’s problematic release, assholes across these United States wore ridiculous Tap Out shirts. If you’ve never seen one of these eye sores, the shirts were as subtle as two raccoons feverishly making love in your attic. The graphic took up ¾ of the shirt and was worn by the loudest people in the room.
The shirts became popular thanks to the early rise of the UFC. If you managed to visit a Buffalo Wild Wings during a fight night in the early to mid-2000s, you definitely had a run-in with one of these “tough guys.” Every bartender in America loathed the sight of crowds of these guys funneling into their establishment. They knew they were in for a tipless night of testosterone-fueled bullshit that would inevitably end with the cops arresting at least two people. Ahh, those were the good old days back when all a man had to was piss in the corner of an Applebee’s to be considered a true Alpha.
I actually had the pleasure of seeing one of these guys tased while working one night. He was a little too rowdy and wouldn’t listen to two male cops desperately telling him to leave. Then the lady cop showed up, and she clearly didn’t give a shit about the paperwork and lit him up when he started making a real ass of himself. It’s one of the core memories I’ll reflect on as I lay on my deathbed.
