I live above a dance studio.

You don’t really think about it too much, really, but dance studios must exist somewhere.
Maybe you are aware of them or not, but each town likely has at least one. And just as luck
would have it, I happen to live directly above one. Because, why not, right?

Have you ever been to a dance studio before? Here are a few things I can assure you to be very
factual: it is loud; the door opens and closes way more often than you’d imagine; the luxury cars
in the parking lot that idle away during the early winter months are nosier than I would hoped
for; and dance studios are open until 10pm.

Listen, I’ve been to these places before. Both my daughters did gymnastics, acrobatics and
dance over the years. I thought I had an idea of how these businesses work. I was wrong
about that. I assumed that these dance studios opened one class before my kids had theirs and
that they closed up shop shortly after we left. I was wrong about that too. Friends, these
classes have no curfew. Like I mentioned, these places are open until 10pm.

Its tap dance classes tonight. Clink, clank, boom… all in perfect synchronicity. Again, and
again, The bass is loud, so its hard to decern what song it is that they are dancing to. Rest
assured, another group will follow tonight, and the tap dancers will return Saturday morning, and
again next Wednesday night.

I am sure the dance studio is quite while I am at work. It’s not all bad, really. There could be
a raw dog food store beside the dance studio…
