Sam, a local Marine Corps veteran, accidentally sent a tasteful yet incredibly dark meme to his family group chat. It didn’t take him long to realize the mistake because his phone immediately erupted with phone calls and texts asking if he was okay and urging him to get help. Sam dismissed the pleas for a mental health evaluation, saying, “Of course I’m not ok, I’m a veteran. I haven’t been ok since I hit the fleet 12 years ago. Maybe one day I’ll hit rock bottom and do something, but until then I’ll suppress my issues through funny ass memes.”
The veteran says this wouldn’t even be an issue if he had sent the text to the right group chat. Sam told reporters the text was intended for a group chat filled with his old military buddies. They would have laughed and sent even darker memes back. It’s how modern veterans communicate. Sam says he’ll get help if someone in the veterans group chat says something because if those broken bastards see a problem, something must seriously be wrong.
When asked to share the meme with reporters, Sam adamantly refused, saying the number one rule is “what happens in the group chat stays in the group chat.”
